A young man with light hair looks contemplative while sitting by a window.

Man with a photo camera.

Except from the fact that I use a camera to make photographs I do not regard myself as a photographer. The idea of photographing for others has always made me uncomfortable, so my spell at being a wedding photographer was a short one.

I am a man with a photo camera, using the photograph as a medium for visual storytelling in black and white.

For me it all started with street photography. The process of observing and capturing candid, unmediated moments of everyday life changed my perspective on observation. This approach has also influenced me when it comes to photographs depicting women.

At this point I would also like to unveil that András is a pseudonym, or an artist name if you will. The name András was invented for the streets of Budapest, back when I roamed those streets with my camera. The idea was simple, as András is a Hungarian form of the given name Andreas, and my name is (drumroll) Andreas!

I was born and raised in the city of Ålesund on the west coast of Norway. After living elsewhere for most of my adult life, I once more reside in this picturesque city by the sea.

With that said, I wish you a warm welcome to this website of mine.

The camera is an excuse to be someplace you otherwise don’t belong. It gives me both a point of connection and a point of separation.
